SANGRAM

Picture

Traveled to Sangli, Maharahshtra to create three profile style films connecting human rights to HIV prevention and care. We spent two days shooting in Sangli and Karad and wish we had had five more! Some truly moving stories and really fantastic work going on. Films will be up soon, in the meantime, check out the current section for photographs and other stories

Goal

Picture

We are working on a fabulous project with Goal, a Standard Chartered Bank initiative that aims to empower girls with life skills education and sports. We are making several cool video diaries that follow the girls throughout their 10 month program. So far, we have shot in Delhi and Bombay and gearing up for round two.

Hippocampus Reading Foundation

We had the pleasure of traveling to Bangalore to make some short films for a fabulous organization Hippocampus.  Some of our favorite moments included listening to children talk about why they liked to read.

INDICORPS

Picture
Somehow we managed to shoot a dozen odd testimonials from Indicorps fellows, alumni, and staff.  It just might have been our busiest 8 hour shift at Mehboob but the films turned out beautifully.

DIAL 1298

Picture
We line produced this film for GOOD Magazine. It was a jam-packed 1 day shoot day and we could have shot the crane shots of the ambulance for hours more! GOOD did a fabulous job editing and we are proud to have been a part of it.

LifeSpring Hospitals

This is possibly the most inspiring place we have ever been! The night before the shoot we stayed up late decorating the hospital with flowers, paper cut-outs, and stuffed toys. We also spent a little time chatting with an older woman who was very worried and concerned about her daughter who was pacing the hallway. When we came in the next morning they were both all smiles as they showed us their newborn little girl! LifeSpring is making healthcare affordable and accessible to women and families. We love their pink uniforms and beautiful smiles!

Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation

Picture
Our favorite moment while shooting these films was casting for the girl project. We were in a remote village in Kerala and there were several girls all lined up in their pattu pavadas.  Aparna took a water vessel and put it on top of each girl's head. We knew right away which girl we would chose, she had the most beautiful smile of all! Shooting these films was an absolutely amazing experience. The warmth of all the Ekal staff, villagers, and all the children made it one of our favorite shoots.

Bridging Cultures

Picture
Makeup can do amazing things! Hats off to Yaz and Manoj for really making it work. This film is probably our most artistic to date.  We spent hours working on transitions and just how we would shoot them. Music by Yeasayer!

Friends Without Borders

This somehow always seems like our first real planned and thought out  global rickshaw film. But in spite of all the planning, the day of the actual shoot our studio floor flooded! We were moved to the smaller studio but somehow managed to make it work and every kid showed up in time! A true team effort for casting, editing, visual effects, and the brilliant Danny Boddu with his magic touch in the sound studio.  It's too bad the Dil Se Dil concert never happened, but this film won Open Space's Second Prize in their Annual Public Service Announcement Competition!

SMILE

We participated in the Genesis Film Project: 101 films, 101 filmmakers, 101 hours.  This film made it into the top 25 and we were selected as Genesis Team's Favorite Film. This film continues to be one of our favorites to watch and re-watch. It was great fun making the children laugh on camera!

Tomorrow, Today.

Picture
Our very first global rickshaw film. Actually, this was an anti-drug music video and we re-edited it for our showreel to be something a little catchier. Probably the first and last project where both Shivraj and Aparna starred, produced, and directed!
